The AE86 is the fifth car in the game, based on the 1983–1987 Toyota Sprinter Trueno. Few cars carry as much culture: it's a legend in both the car world and the anime world, best known as Takumi Fujiwara's car in Initial D. In FR Legends it's one of the lightest and fastest-feeling cars you can build — a fully-tuned J engine gives a stable 717 hp at 8,500 rpm in a chassis around 1,000–1,050 kg, so it's quick in a straight line and razor-sharp through corners.

Trivia

  • It's the only car with no stock wheels — it rolls on Watanabe RS8s out of the box, a nod to the Initial D AE86.
  • The Levin version isn't in the game. Mods can turn the Trueno into a Levin, but since there's no separate car to replace, use them carefully.
  • It's one of four cars that come with a livery already applied after the model revisions — the others being the E30 and the Realize and A-Bo-Moon R32s.
  • It's one of only two cars with a solid rear axle (the other is the 2105), which means you can't adjust rear camber.
