When Toyota launched the first-gen Tundra in 2000 it was a statement — the first full-size pickup from a Japanese manufacturer to offer a V8, built at a new plant in Indiana and aimed directly at the F-150, Silverado and Ram. Pre-facelift 2001 means the original boxy front end, round headlights, and that unmistakable wide-mouth grille that hadn't been touched yet. Not the most powerful truck in its class, but reviewers at the time called it the smoothest and most refined pickup you could buy.
