The Toyota Supra Mk3 A70 was introduced in 1986 as the third generation of the Supra. Unlike its predecessors, it became a standalone model separate from the Celica, featuring a modern design, a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout, and a strong focus on performance, comfort, and advanced technology for its time.

The 2.5 Turbo version was introduced in the Japanese market in the early 1990s, powered by the 2.5-liter inline-six 1JZ-GTE engine with twin turbochargers.
